The UVa Wise men's cross country runners acheived very strong performances in the Maroon Invitational at Roanoke College today. The team was just short of a third place trophy, getting nipped by only 2 points behind Southern Virginia. However, the team of mostly sophomores all surpassed their last year's times at this event. This shows growth in their abilities and speed, and promises good results as the season progresses.
Collin Skeen was back in action from missing the previous race and lead the team with a remarkable 13th place finish in 30:20 on the hilly, tough course. Matt Parker, continued his stellar second year results with a 20th place, 31:13 finish. Christian Bresnock continues to improve steadily and finished in 25th place in 31:50. Tyler Morris, who missed most of the week's training with a sprained ankle, dug deep and finished in 30th place with a time of 32:27. Finally, Landry Mullins proved we have no weak links by charging in right behind the others in 37th place and a 34:43 time. Overall the men finished 4th out of 8 teams, missing 3rd place by only 2 points.
